God showed beforehand the entire history of human governance to Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, the first Emperor of the world around 600 BC. His empire would be followed by four empires, gradually deteriorating in their quality - (1) Medo-Persian, (2) Greek, (3) Roman and (4) a hybrid of Roman and Democratic (People rule).

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom (heavenly – His Church – on earth. This happened on the day of Pentecost two thousand years ago), which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people (will be owned by Him, the gates of hell shall not prevail against it), but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms (pervade all people of the earth and become a world-wide Kingdom), and it shall stand for ever (Ps 45:6). Forasmuch as you saw that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands (Living stone Jesus and His Church), and that it broke in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; It would shatter the systems established by these five previous kingdoms. It will fill the entire earth.

Jesus would come down from heaven to be born as man and establish the Kingdom of Heaven in the hearts of His believers. He would be their king. His kingdom will remain for ever - an everlasting kingdom. (Not a thousand years as some 'believers' assert).
