Only Thamizhar lived on this earth before the global flood and Noah who built the Naavaai was a Thamizhar. Navalantheevu is the only land that existed originally as the Pangea amidst the surrounding waters. Naavar became Naagar (Naavu and Nakku are synonyms in Thamizh). Naagar were the original Thamizh people and Nagar was the place populated by them. Puram (pur) was the outskirts of this Nagar which became the suffixes of many Indian cities. Ur is the native place. Interestingly, the native of Abraham and Job a.k.a. Yobu, Cheops and Kufu of Egyptian Pyramids fame, the first intellectual of the world, is mentioned in the Bible as Ur.

Naagar are the ancestors of Nayar, Nayakkar, Naidu (du is a suffix added to denote respect) and the Nagas. These Naagar became the slaves of the original Naga - the Old serpent (another name for Satan, God's adversary). This was signified by the Aadhinaathan who has a Naga snake around his neck.

Thamizhar take pride in calling themselves 'Kal thondri Mann thondra Kalathey mun thondri mootha kudi' - the people who preceded the appearing of the rocks (Ararat Mountains) which surfaced before sandy land appeared after the global deluge of Noah's time.
