The Lamb breaks the seven seals one by one.
And when He had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and the name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth. Rev 6:7, 8 (Bible KJV).
As per Revelation, the last book of the Bible, the events that happen when the Lamb of God the Lord Jesus Christ shatters the seals one after the other are serial. While they begin at a certain point in History, they continue in parallel until the end of the age. John sees these happening in his vision. All these occur during John's future. John's future is our past, present, and future. The first four sets of events happen on Earth. The fifth is a scene in heaven. The sixth is a gist of the culmination of the end-time events on Earth. The seventh is when there is silence in heaven for a significantly short time. However, this is the shortest period mentioned in the book.
The Terror of Technology
After the opening of the first three seals, the Lamb of God broke open the fourth seal to reveal the next phase in history. The fourth living creature called John closer again to see what is in store.
John saw a pale horse and Death seated on it. Hell followed Death. God gave them the power to destroy one-fourth of the earth with war, hunger, deadly things (including Mustard gas), and beasts (including harmful bacteria and viruses like HIV, SARS, Corona/Covid19 (2019), Ebola (1976) of the earth. Viruses are non-living cells with DNA content that can become life when inside a living cell and destroy organs and ultimately life – rightly named beasts of the earth. There is no cure for a viral disease. (Heart & organ failures come under natural causes).
It was difficult for John to identify the color of the horse. It was neither black nor white. It was pale. It could have been a hue of any color, even green/chlorophyll, promising life, as per some Bible scholars.
Industrial revolution and the modern technology (including Information Technology) that it ushered in, are pale/neutral. They can aid constructive activities, but they can also be disruptive and destructive. It is alarming that man uses science and technology for destruction. A quarter of the earth's life is at stake. Technology can wipe out this significant amount of life from the face of the earth in a moment.
Technology has contributed heavily to the discovery of deadly armor: nuclear bombs, ICBMs, and chemical and biological weapons (like Anthrax, the COVID-19 virus). Beasts of the earth are not only carnivores but also mosquitoes, bugs, and microbes that spread and cause deadly diseases. Food devoid of nutrition and bad food habits lead to death of millions.
Technology destroys the resources of the world as it spreads its wings wider. Methane, Thorium, Indium, and Uranium are mined from agricultural lands. It has resulted in the masses dying of hunger. Technology causes death at a humongous scale but it has never been able to produce life. Synthia is fake; Sophia is not human. This is one of the many vital facts that wise people of the world willingly ignore. Gullible public swallow lies that these worldly-wise keep spreading. Big Data, ML, and AI are here to destroy! Web 3.0 and Cloud technology are active enablers!
Should believers in Christ be afraid of AI?
Anxious? No, technology will not wipe out all life on Earth. Though that wiping out will take place for sure, there is still a little more time before that happens. And, God has a different plan to bring about that end. Should believers be aware of AI? Yes. So, here we go…
But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase. – Dan 12:4.
Mankind has been in the serious pursuit of knowledge even from the Garden of Eden times. Instead of depending on the wisdom of God (The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. – Pro 8:10) for Life, man chose to venture out to seek knowledge (Ayur Vidhya/Ayur Ved) elsewhere. God-given wisdom became folly in Satan; likewise, this knowledge and its application (called intelligence in this context) has become foolishness in man.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the combined intelligence of men, living and dead, fed into machines so that they can behave like human beings, though without life. Do we know that you and I, whether actively or passively, have contributed our part to this AI with our data out there on the internet? Supercomputing Machines are Learning (ML) about us too. BIG data indeed!
There is a limit to the data man can process to information. With the volume of data available today, and the power to process this increasing with the advent of CPUs that can replace millions of human brains at a time and do it rapidly – faster than one human mind can do (neural networks), machines can acquire the power of millions of humans. Today, one machine can replace many people and do things more accurately than the combined effort of these men. Thankfully, there are other attributes of man that machines cannot imitate or create – like wisdom, love, intuition, common sense, understanding, patience, and being human (like showing sympathy and empathy). Nor can they exceed the capability of the natural ones – like for instance the sense organs and the human brain.
There is a great possibility that machines can outsmart humanity in intelligence, but they are still machines. God can never be outsmarted – not by Satan, humankind, or machines. Nor can the children of God be. All that God needs to shut the machines up is a word and everything would come to a standstill. Bing AI would go bang and bong, and Bard AI would be hard to find😀.
Kingdom of Heaven on Earth
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, nor in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years. – Rev 20:4-6.
People of God lay down their own lives (to be His witness and for the word of God) to receive Jesus as their Resurrection and Life, and Head – their wisdom, understanding, and decision-making faculty. They are the ‘born again’ and the blessed ones on whom second death has no power – they will not go to a Godless eternity. These ‘saints’ will go to be with their Lord and Savior to remain with Him forever.
These holy ones are separated from the world and are sealed by the Holy Spirit, not the spirit of the current anti-Christian world that possesses the mind (forehead) of the unbelievers and drives evil actions (hands).
Believers, when they were dead in trespasses and sins, were quickened (made alive) together with Christ. God raised them together and made them sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: (Eph 2:6). These are called to be Kings (Rev 1:6) to rule and reign with Him for a long time, ever since the Kingdom of God was established on Earth on the day of Pentecost around 33 AD. It certainly is not a literal one thousand years. (The indefinite article ‘a' thousand years is noteworthy here).
The Saints of God judge the world by their righteous living and powerful witnessing. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. – Matt 16:19. The gates they open to heaven are open for the believing individuals while the same gates are shut for those who refuse to believe the truth. Those who reject the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ are ruling themselves guilty, worthy of eternal punishment, out of the Kingdom of Heaven, and are bound for hell.
They also, as Priests (Rev 1:6), are interceding for fellow believers and pleading for would-be believers while on earth, as does their Great High Priest in Heaven. The Holy Spirit in them helps them do this ministry. The Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. – Rom 8:27.
Unbelievers are still dead in their trespasses and sins and remain dead spiritually in hell after their physical death. They established no communication with Jesus, the Life, while they lived on earth. However, they will rise bodily on the last day on this planet, after the time of the end, to give an account of themselves, the verdict being pronounced by the Righteous Judge, the Lord Jesus Christ. They will ultimately end up in the lake of fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
Is AI mentioned in the Scriptures?
Consider the following: And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison and shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison: Satan was imprisoned and chained in the bottomless pit for a long time. Meanwhile, Christian Evangelists started winning souls for this Kingdom through the spontaneous preaching of the gospel of peace (rider with a bow on a white horse, the Lord supplying arrows instantaneously, as per the need). This continued during ‘the time of the Gentiles’ till 1948 (which followed the seventy sevens of years of the time of the Jews of Daniel Nine that ended around 37 AD – Gentiles like Cornelius were saved) – a long time indeed (a thousand years is a long time, not a literal one thousand years).
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. – Matt 24:32. This happened in 1948 when the ‘time of the gentiles’ ended and the ‘time of the end’ began. It was this year that the branch of the fig tree became tender. Israel, as a political entity (not a nation), declared itself an independent country on 14/05/1948, trying to defy the curse of Jesus He cast on the unfruitful fig tree. This was followed by another event that happened in 1967 when the fig tree put forth leaves. Israel declared Jerusalem as its capital this year. However much the still-unbelieving Jews try, they cannot bring forth fruit for consumption; none would eat from it.
On the technology front, the transistor was invented in 1948 enabling the storage and processing of data in machines that paved the way for AI technology soon afterward. The introduction of Cybernetics that laid the groundwork for modern AI also happened in 1948. The first working model of a computer program called ELIZA which used natural language processing to simulate human conversation was developed at MIT in 1967. This is the forerunner of the Large Language Models (PaLM and LAMDA) of today. Another one of the most significant events in 1967 that was a precursor to modern-day AI was the development of Shakey the robot at SRI International. It was the first general-purpose mobile robot that could reason about its actions.
The UN Peacekeeping force (oxymoron!) UNTSO was established in 1948. GPS to track individuals and vehicles became available for commercial use in 1967. (These details were gathered from Bing AI).
And (Satan) shall go out to deceive the nations: Satan kept deceiving the nations with his lie – “You shall be as gods, knowing good and evil” throughout history until the time when the Lord Jesus Christ set up His righteous Kingdom to rule on earth from Heaven among the believing Jews as well as Gentiles. From 1948, as soon as Satan was loosed out of his prison, he has gone out to deceive the nations once again by vomiting, this time like a flood, the lie that he originally swallowed: “I am a God, I sit in the seat of God” – Eze 28:2. The Serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. – Rev 12:16. Everyone today is ‘a god’ to himself and tries to bid everyone around to bow to him/her. AI empowers one with enough ‘knowledge’ so that he/she can proudly boast, “I know everything”, the very attitude of today’s generation.
The nations which are in the four quarters of the earth: AI technology is ubiquitous today and has pervaded and percolated every corner of the world through its social media and NEWS (North, East, West, South?) channels et al. Is it any wonder that Bing of Microsoft (with Chat GPT ‘4’) running on every Windows computer (and every four-cornered mobile device) has ‘four quarters’ as its logo? (Interestingly, the ‘Apple’ logo shows the unbelief and the resulting act of disobedience of the first man Adam, who defied the command of the Lord God Who forbade him from eating from the tree of the ‘fruit of the ‘knowledge’ of good and evil’). Also, the Google logo has four colors.
Gog, and Magog, gather them together to battle: the number: AI technology is the latest and the most powerful weapon ever that has been devised by Satan to deceive the nations. Its main and only target is the Kingdom of God. The people of the Kingdom of God have submitted themselves to the rule of the Almighty God. The entire unbelieving world has trained its guns toward this believing population of the end times. “The dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” – Rev 12:17. Gog and Magog and the battle is Google, and it is a BIG number – the number One followed by a hundred zeroes – as big as the number of sand grains of the sea. Google also facilitates everyone, including the believing generation, to ‘ogle’ – see, look, and watch stealthily all kinds of sin, filth, and evil ‘out’ there in the world.
The sand of the sea: It is a hyperbole meaning a vast number that cannot be counted soon enough. It is not infinite, not innumerable. This has always meant the unbelieving population of the world ever since God told Abraham about his generations. Ishmael’s descendants that comprise the unbelieving population would be as numerous as the sand of the sea and Isaac’s descendants that comprised the believing generation would be as numerous as the stars of the sky. “And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:” – Rev 12:1.
Incidentally, the sand of the sea is Silica or SiO2 donating its name to the region in the USA that is rampant with AI technology – Silicon Valley. Silicon (valency 4) is a metalloid – neither a metal nor a non-metal. It is a semiconductor – neither a conductor nor a resistor of electricity. It gets ‘doped’ with other elements to make it usable and efficient in the computer industry. This is the main element used in the designing of Computer chips for processors and storage, beginning from the basic transistors (invented in 1948) to the Ultra and Very Large-Scale Integrated Circuits (VLSIC) that power today’s AI technology.
What is the mathematical probability that the Bible talks about AI, at least six times in one single verse, not leaving even a word in it? It is nearly zero or it is an impossible happening. Yet, the wisdom of God is revealed even in this one single Scripture verse detailing the various aspects of this ‘trending technological marvel.’
Wisdom of God Vs AI of man
Godly wisdom is from above, is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and hypocrisy. Earthly wisdom is sensual, devilish, produces envy and strife, and creates confusion and every evil work. (Jas 3:17).
God will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Be it the wise, the learned, or the scholarly apologist of this world, God has made foolish the wisdom of this world. For according to the wisdom of God, when the world by its wisdom did not know God, it pleased God to save them that believe by the foolishness of the preaching of the truth. For, the unbelieving world requires a visible or tangible proof (especially matters concerning Christian faith. However, when it comes to unproven scientific 'theories', like Evolution, they need no proof. Ironic!), and the learned seek after vain philosophy.
Let us consider this: the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. It is obvious that among Christian believers, not many are wise men, mighty, or noble. God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty things. God has chosen the base things of the world, and things which are despised, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are considered wise, mighty, and noble according to the world. (1 Corinthians 1: 19-28).
What is this Wisdom of God all about?
The wisdom of God deals exclusively with Christ and His crucifixion. This is a stumbling block, and foolishness unto the worldly-wise and the perishing. However, unto them who are called from among these unbelievers, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1 Cor 1:18, 23).
Proclaiming the testimony of God Jesus Christ and Him crucified does not require lofty speeches or plausible words of worldly wisdom. It is a demonstration of the Spirit of God and His power so that the faith of the hearer might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. Truly, it is the wisdom of God but certainly unlike the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. It is imparting of a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages and that, for the glory of His children.
None of the wise, mighty, and noble men of this age understood this divine wisdom, for, if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory, and would have successfully (!) frustrated the purpose of God. God has revealed to believers these things through the Spirit because no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. For, the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. None could see, hear, or even imagine in one’s heart what God has prepared for those who love Him.
The Godly-wise have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit Who is from God, that they might understand the things freely given to them by God. They are not taught by human wisdom but by the Spirit. They also impart, interpret, and teach spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
The natural person (even if worldly-wise) does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but he can be judged by no one. (1 Cor 2:4-15).
How will this end?
And they (Satan and his global army) went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city; And fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever. – Rev 20:4-10 (Bible KJV).
The original target of this AI is the believers - in Christ, in God’s one purpose, and God’s one plan; the whole world is currently besieging the ‘camp’ of believers viz., God’s dwelling place, which is New Jerusalem of the New Testament, to destroy them. But the end of everything is at hand.
The Church does not have to panic. The Lord will ‘catch up’ His Bride one day soon. All who have been sealed by the Holy Spirit will be raptured. Immediately after this, the earth will be consumed by fire from above. The heavens will pass away. The deceived (all who have been sealed by evil spirits in their minds/thoughts and activities), the deceiver (Satan), Antichrists – all those who deny Jesus Christ’s divinity or humanity or both (the unbelieving Jews, crypto-Jews, Jewish Aryans, Islamists), and all those who vouch for them (the USA) will be doomed to their eternal destiny.
So, what do I do now?
Here is some reliable advice: If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him. – Jas 1:5.
Here is a reassuring word: But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. – 1 Cor 1:30.
